Merissa Martinez
County Treasurer

Merissa Martinez is an Albany County native who has built her life and raised her family here. She brings more than 12 years of hands-on experience in finance, accounting, and payroll to the race for County Treasurer.
As Administrative Assistant for the South of Laramie Water & Sewer District, she manages payroll, utility billing, accounts payable and receivable, reconciles seven bank accounts, and prepares the district’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and budgets. She also coordinates full audits to meet state and county standards. Earlier she handled QuickBooks, payroll, and profit-and-loss reporting for a local contracting company and financial reporting for dozens of rental properties. In 2025 she earned a Bachelor of Business Accounting from Grand Canyon University and became a certified Public Notary.
She won the Republican primary on August 18, 2026. Her focus is practical: create a Tax Relief Resource Center that helps veterans, seniors, and working families claim every exemption they qualify for; modernize the office so vehicle registrations and tax payments are faster and simpler; and publish clear, plain-language financial reports so taxpayers can see exactly how their money is managed.
Merissa Martinez will run the Treasurer’s Office with the same careful accounting and respect for the public’s time and dollars that she practices every day.
